E.L.A.N.D. Project
Experience Learning And Natural Discovery at Global Wildlife Center!  Sponsor -  The Lee Matherne Family Foundation.

Global Wildlife Center was featured in the 3rd grade Harcourt Science Textbook, Louisiana edition. Click here!

At Global Wildlife Center, education is paramount. Children are taught the value of wildlife conservation and education through experience. The effectiveness of touch as a teaching tool is evident every day at Global Wildlife Center. Here children are able to wiggle a camel's hump, rub the giraffe's eighteen inch tongue, and feel the wooly fur of bison.

While on tour, the children are able to witness first-hand the fascinating natural behaviors these animals exhibit in our free and wild atmosphere. The educational and entertaining safari tours instill the importance of life and conservation of natural resources in our children's minds, and through the development of a personal experience, secures the future of wildlife...for their children.

Safari Adventure Fieldtrip:    It’s as close to Africa as many of your students will ever get! You’ll relax, because the students are contained in the safety of the safari wagons; the animals roam free! A naturalist tour guide will educate and entertain your students about the exciting behaviors they see on their safari adventure tour. The students learn, through touch, as they feed animals from all over the world.

Making a Reservation:    One teacher per class tours free, and the educational rate for students is only $7. Chaperons and parents also receive a discounted rate of $11. You’ll want to include at least one 32 oz feed cup per person at $1 each. The more animal food, the more fun, so encourage the students to bring extra dollar bills to purchase additional feed on tour. We have beautiful grassy areas at the Visitor Center that are great for playing games, and you’re welcome to bring a sack lunch from school. Or, you can pre-order a hot dog meal with your reservation for $5 a meal. Visit our Safari Gift Shop for our special children friendly area of souvenirs that range from 25 cents to $2.

Click here for a printable Safari Reservation form. Just fill it out and fax it to Global Wildlife. A reservationist will call you back to confirm availability! Or call (985) 796-3585 ext. 0 to make a reservation  for your school fieldtrip today!
